Japanese Umbrella Pine – April 3, 2023

I was looking at this Japanese umbrella pine this evening which was the first tree I planted here over top a rain garden I created. One of the few conifers which like its feet wet. The back water garden ironically would turn into a small lake and was concave like a soup bowl before it was created. The tree is now about 30ft tall and provides lots of habitat

After lots of earthworking and planting of moisture loving plants .trees and shrubs.its a little eden back there requiring no watering on the hotest of days. The four ponds built by hand and sacred communion provide additional moisture to the cycle creating a microclimate…the wildlife love it…the different frogs are now singing up a storm during their mating as they usher in spring.

This is where folks will congregate on warmer days when they come to volunteer.. Taking the time to notice more of the journey these days…and be present..
