– Garden Supply Closet
Listed in the HWG Community Garden Directory New Castle County Garden Exchange (NCCGE), a partnership between Messiah’s Market and Here We
Grow, is a brand new garden materials exchange where individual growers and community garden representatives can meet up to trade what they no longer need for items that they do. With most exchanges being for seeds and/or plants, we developed the NCCGE with gardeners’ needs in mind. We
feel that more gardeners can bloom with the correct tools in hand, so we offer the opportunity to trade everything from seeds to pots to house plants to grow lights to harvested crops to mulch to tools and more. We also Spotlight NCCo community gardens to assist with them with gaining needed resources.
Here We Grow is a non-profit venture with the goal of maintaining the Garden Supply & Tool Closet to assist gardeners in NCCo with accessibility to materials, supplies, and tools; and the NCCo – Directory of Community Gardens & Urban Farms, making it easier for the public to find, contact, join, and/or assist our many community gardens that have been rapidly growing here in Delaware. Maintaining both allows HWG to keep a database making it easier to match incoming material and tool donations with available gardening recipients. If no matches are available, we add the donation to our inventory to be loaned out or given away later to community garden programs and home gardeners when they “shop”. Left over items from the NCCGE events are added to our inventory.
