This month, we will be screening Winter’s Tale, starring Colin Farrell and Jessica Brown Findlay, best known for her role as Lady Sybil on the PBS hit Downton Abbey. In this sweeping love story – which takes place in a similar time period as Downton – Jessica Brown Findlay plays another tragic character: a beautiful young woman, Beverly Penn, who is dying of consumption. She falls in love with Peter Lake (played by Russell Crowe), an orphaned street thief at odds with gangster Pearly Soames (played by Russell Crowe). Over the course of this supernatural and exciting story, Lake grapples with issues of love, loss, morality, and self-identity, ultimately realizing that being the love of another person is the noblest role of all.

Entertainment Weekly described the film as a “tearjerker,” a “dark sci-fi thriller” and a “kid-friendly fairy tale” all at once.  It is a fun-filled adventure, and “its fantastical twists [and] decades-spanning time leaps…will be a big chunk of its allure for the hopeless romantics in the house.”

We chose this movie because its emphasis on the redeeming power of love – for others and for yourself – is such an important message in so many of our classes and offerings here at the center. In our “#dailyinspiration” (a daily Facebook and Twitter post from Deb Gottselig, Akashic Record Consultant) on March 2nd, we reminded our clients, practitioners, and friends that “Love is a gift from the heart and a force to be revered when offered without condition.”

Plus, the beautiful winter imagery reminded us of some of the serene, snowy scenes we had in the garden here this past winter. Check out our Facebook page to see some of these photos.

On the second Friday of Every month, IWC hosts Spiritual Cinema. We show a movie with a theme that speaks to who we are, our spiritual essence and our connection to each other. An organic drinks and organic popcorn will be provided during the showing so our practitioners and our clients can get to know one another and share one of America’s oldest pastimes – the movies.

Inspiration Corner

  • When our only reality becomes emerged within an “exaggerated importance “of material wealth we feel a certain lack and so, we desire more and more to fill this void.  In truth the material riches of this illusive reality we have created cannot fulfill a spirit robbed of the unseen treasures that are life’s true gifts.  May Peace, Light and Love surround you and yours always, D

  • Sometimes it is our fear and need to know the outcome that keeps us from stepping outside of our comfort zone and grabbing hold of the opportunities that offer us the greatest potential for growth.

  • The cycle of life begins with the innocence of pure acceptance, becomes entangled within the insecurity of doubt only to rise from the mire blossoming into the radiance of knowing and wisdom.

  • Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself. Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections but instantly set about remedying them – every day begin the task anew.

  • Life offers us many opportunities.  However, to truly experience the potential we must first be willing to choose and embrace the possibilities.

  • The color of one’s skin and the beliefs they hold are simply the cloak one wears and the staff they carry as they travel life’s journey.  What connects us all like family is not found in the outside appearance but rather in the light from within, which is the brilliancy of our individual Beings.

  • How often have you asked, and then when the very thing you have desired is offered you hesitate to grab it?  Perhaps the time has come for you to recognize the abundance that is within your grasp.

  • It is important that you take responsibility for your life.  After all, it is you who created your experiences.

  • Be happy, be healthy and be whole, for your tomorrows are created by the choices you make today.

  • Learn from the past, hope for the future, but always live in the now.

  • The only real obstacle in your life is the one you believe you cannot overcome.

  • Learning to love unconditionally is the key that will unlock the door to understanding your true life’s purpose.
