Massage therapy promotes overall relaxation and wellness and can relieve a variety of ailments and conditions, including stress and anxiety, injuries, and chronic pain. Our licensed therapists are certified in a wide variety of modalities, including Deep Tissue Massage, Myofascial Release, and Hot Stone Therapy, and can integrate practices to meet the unique needs and challenges of each individual body.

Massage Modalities

Deep Tissue/Therapeutic – Focuses on the realigning of deeper layers of muscles and tissues. This type of massage is especially helpful for individuals suffering from chronic aches and pains. For example: stiff neck, upper back pain, leg muscle tightness and sore shoulders. The Practitioner uses a slow movement, concentrating pressure on the client’s areas of tension and pain.  (Includes Sport Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Heat Therapy and Stretching Techniques)

Swedish Massage – The most relaxing, common and best-known type of massage in the west is the Swedish massage. If this is your first experience with massage, or if you do not often have the opportunity to indulge in bodywork, this is the massage for you. A Swedish massage can be slow and gentle, or vigorous depending on the personal style of the Practitioner and what he or she is attempting to achieve for your relief and wellbeing. (Relaxation Massage)

Myofascial Release – As described by John Barnes, creator of the Barnes Myofascial Release technique, “Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on procedure that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions, to eliminate pain and restore motion.” This approach contains three elements: structural myofascial release, unwinding and rebounding. Together, these elements create a unique synergy between the therapist and the client, allowing for: rehydration and restoration within the body through the structural component; the client’s engagement of the mind/body connection, allowing them to move through issues that have been restricting them, through the unwinding component; and the rhythmic rocking of rebounding, during which the body’s resonance “washes away” restrictions to decrease pain and increase range of motion.

Sports Massage – Geared towards those who are physically active, this type of massage utilizes both quick energetic as well as calming techniques depending on the needs of the client.  Both impact circulation, flexibility, range of motion, elimination of soreness fatigue and spasms and will assists in healing of injuries. Regular sessions aid in increasing joint mobility and flexibility, and reduce the risks during exercise.

Prenatal Massage – This specialized technique is designed to improve circulation, take some of the strain off muscles and joints and generally re-energize you.  It also aides in reducing stress hormones, increases blood flow and keeps your lymphatic system working in peak efficiency, flushing out toxins from your body causing a reconnection between mind and body.

Integrated Massage – For some clients, various massage and energetic modalities can be combined and customized to best meet their unique healing needs.  ( i.e. Myofascial, Cranial Sacral, Reiki, Vibrational, etc). The benefit is that it allows the client to facilitate healing on both the physical and metaphysical level addressing stress, physical and emotional pain and building awareness on a much  deeper level to facilitate their own healing process.

Hot Stone Massage –  Hot stone massage therapy melts away tension, eases muscle stiffness and increases circulation and metabolism.  Each 1 1/2 hour hot stone massage therapy session promotes deeper muscle relaxation through the placement of smooth water heated stones at key points on the body.    This is a customized massage which offers enhanced benefits.  It allows the therapists access to deeper muscle layers and also expand blood vessels which encourage blood flow throughout the body.   The hot stones have a sedative effect that can relieve chronic pain, reduce stress and promote deep relaxation.   The overall effect being a very healing and effective experience.
